Ben Fuchs on dead doctors dont lie october 24 2013

British Medical Journal
saturated fats not the major issue

Saturated fat is very valuable.
organ meats are nutritious. very nutrient dense.

Cholesterol-rich & powerful. Growth & repair molecule.
eating cholesterol reduces the cholesterol your body makes.

your body will make more cholesterol when it is building, or when it
thinks its building.

When we eat a lot of sugar our body thinks that it is building.
there is an important relationship between
blood sugar hormone insulin & cholesterol.

They are both involved in building the body.
when your insulin goes up because you are eating a lot of carbohydrates and sugars,
so will your cholesterol.

diabetes & cholesterol go hand in hand.

if you want to mess up your blood sugar system take a statin drug.
Even the FDA recognizes that statin drugs can cause diabetes.
There are researchers who believe that the most common side effect of statin drugs
which is muscle pain & muscle weakness can actually be a sign of messed up insulin & blood sugar.

Cholesterol is the quintessential molecule of animal life.
the distinguishing biochemical that makes animals animals & not plants.

cholesterol is involved in building the skeletal muscle system, brain, and nervous system.

the only time you should suppress cholesterol is if you want to be a vegetable.

If you want your cholesterol to drop, reduce your sugar...reduce your intake of bread, pasta, rice, fruit juice.
anything that raises your blood sugar and insulin levels.

Peptides

Book "the molecules of emotion" a really cool book about peptides
by Candice perk (look up spelling)

link between thoughts, feelings, and peptides.

everytime that you have a thought you create a peptide.
everytime you feel a feeling you make a peptide.
There are peptides that make you feel good & ones that make you feel bad.

peptides can act like illegal drugs
cat nip
THC
endocannabinoids
amphetamine receptors
morphine
endorphins-peptides that stimulate receptors in your brain that relieve pain.

grains and flour contain exorphines

potatoes and grains are considered comfort foods because of these peptides.

Peptides-produced in response to genetic changes.

They are command molecules. They are signaling molecules.
They sit on top of a little opening on a cell and initiate chemical reactions
just by inserting themselves into receptor sites, like a lock in key fashion.

Peptides make things happen inside & outside the body.

Peptides & Skincare

Why The FDA hates peptides

Peptides are very active. They have a hormone like effect.

When you use it on your skin it has a hormone like effect.

cosmeceuticals-products in between pharmaceuticals and cosmetics

*cosmeceutical-retinoic acid is a topical form of Vitamin A

3 main types of skin care peptides

1) Hormone like peptides-you put in your skin and it acts like a signaling peptide.
It will initiate chemistry inside of the cell. (palmitoyl-pentapeptide) 5 amino acids stuck to a palm acid (fatty acid) (brand name matrixyl)
cytocines. Interlukin.
matrixyl-makes thicker skin
they turn on the production of molecules that make collagen, elastin, polysaccarides,
Hyaluronic acid that fatten and nourish the dermis.

2) neuro muscular peptides-works with muscle & nerves in the skin.
It will relax muscles & nerves & reduce the appearance of wrinkles

3) carrier peptides-deliver things into a cell. (copper peptides)

Protein-means action.

3 main categories or functions of Protein

 1) Protein hardware-structure (ex. bones, muscles, cytoskeleton)

2) Activating Protein-informational proteins

3) Metabolic Enzymes proteins

 Digestive enzymes-

  Fat-Lipase
  Starches-Amylase
  Protein-Protease

Amino acids (building blocks of protein) are needed by the body.

Protein has to be broken down into amino acids for the body to use

Proteins are complex structures and they need to be broken down to Amino acids.

If they are not broken down serious things can happen.

Breakdown of proteins in the digestive process, digestive breakdown of protein is

something that can not be taken for granted.

Protein digestion requires many steps & digestive chemicals, and acids & enzymes,

and everything has to work together.

Protein digestion requires healthy organs that work together

while in the digestive process.

Requires a healthy liver, gallblader, stomach, pancrease, intestines.

Lots of things have to go right so you can turn a hamburger into amino acids.

 Caller 1: anemia, tumor,cancer

 Caller 2:  Vitamin K question

Caller 3: china study, germ theory vs terrain

Protein continued...

Cells-little animals that are invisible.

If you were to put a cell in a petri dish
you would see it run to food & run away from poison.

protein(hardware) genes(software-instructions for life)

The primary job of a cell is to produce stuff to do stuff.
Cells make a special kind of stuff. And all the stuff that cells make
come from instructions that are like digitally encoded software.
All cells have software instructions that result in the production of
stuff that we can easily called hardware.

The hardware that results from the software instruction allows the
cell to do all of the things it needs to live
and for us to live. For the macrostructure and the microstructure to live.

Genes are chemical instructions for the production of protein.

Chemical hardware that allows cells & ultimately our bodies to do the work of being alive.
every single function a cell in a body does eating, breathing reproducing, excreting, contracting, relaxing....whatever...
its all controlled at the most basic level by hardware called protein that comes from software called genes.

That's what a protein is...hardware. what I mean by hardware is solid pieces of chemicals.

Genetics communicates invisible messages(information)

Transcription & translation.
